What is remedial massage?

Remedial massage is a therapeutic and rehabilitative form of massage therapy that focuses on treating specific injuries, chronic pain, or musculoskeletal dysfunctions. It addresses and alleviates the underlying causes of pain, injury or muscle tension, restores normal muscle function, and improves mobility.

All treatment sessions are individualised and specific to the person’s condition and/or needs.

How does sports massage differ from remedial massage?

Sports massage is a form of massage therapy that is primarily used to prevent injuries, improve athletic performance, aid in muscle recovery following exercise, and improve overall body biomechanics. It is typically used by athletes before, during, or after physical activity.

Treatment is specific to the individual’s sporting background - and can be varied based on intensity or level of competition, specific time i.e., pre or post-event, and frequency of training.

  • Pre or post-event preparation/recovery

  • Sports injuries i.e., muscle strains, ligament sprains

  • Muscle fatigue or overuse injuries
